GameCamp Edmonton is dedicated to providing a safe, harassment-free experience for all of our members, participants, and guests, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment within our spaces and events in any form. Members or guests violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from our spaces and future events at the discretion of the GameCamp team.
All participants of GameCamp Edmonton must abide by the following policy:
We strive for our community to be an excellent experience for everyone regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disabilities, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, age, religion, or other protected category. Treat everyone with respect. Participate while acknowledging that everyone deserves to be here—and each of us has the right to enjoy our experience without fear of harassment, discrimination, or condescension, whether blatant or via micro-aggressions. Jokes shouldn’t demean others. Consider what you are saying and how it would feel if it were said to or about you.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
Some of our events may take places in bars or restaurants where alcohol is available for purchase—please know that the GameCamp Organizer team does not consider intoxication an excuse for unacceptable behaviour. Furthermore, ignorance is also not considered an excuse for breaking our Code of Conduct.
People found violating our Code of Conduct will be asked to cease their behaviour immediately by the GameCamp Organizer team. Depending on the severity of the behaviour in question, rulebreakers may be banned from engaging in our spaces and participating in future events.
The GameCamp Organizer team is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for anyone and everyone interested in joining our community, and we will enforce our Code of Conduct at every opportunity. However, we acknowledge that we will not be able to catch everything—if someone ever makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it to us as soon as possible. You can make a report by contacting the GameCamp Organizer team directly by email via gamecampedmonton@gmail.com, by sending any one of the Organizer team a direct message on Facebook or Discord or our Anonymous Report Form.
Parts of this policy was adapted from a policy template obtained from Geek Feminism and Event Code of Conduct & Anti-Harassment Policy.
